there are some aspects where my expectations weren’t met. For this model, you’re required to purchase cartridges. It won’t work with the free cartridges you can order online from UPS, which forces you to buy its own branded cartridges. Also, printing 4×6 size labels from my MacBook wasn’t as straightforward, maybe I couldn’t figure it out, though I’m not someone who struggles with technology. Additionally, during the setup process, registering for the cloud seems mandatory, which I don’t understand for a label printer.

Zebra Thermal Printers are known to be the best in the shipping/e-commerce industry. This printer is no exception. It was a breeze to set up on my Windows desktop and it actually prints out 4×6 shipping labels in perfect quality.
The downside to this printer, is the proprietary label cartridges. You can’t order the free ones off the UPS website and use those for these printer. It has to be the one’s Zebra sells, which cost $24.99 for 190 labels. That is a lot of money for 4×6 labels and since you can’t use UPS’ free labels, make this an expensive gadget for any business.
They state the cartridges are made out of potato starch and biodegradable. However, the UPS one’s are also environmentally friendly, as they only come on a cardboard core, which can be recycled.
Unless the price of the labels go down, I can’t recommend this printer to anyone running an actual ecomm business.

After starting a small business that needs a lot of printing of labels. This was a life saver. Really fast setup and great looking prints. Worth a pickup. The phone app isn’t my favorite but the pc version is better and just print labels straight from usps or ups etc, is easy.

I’ve been wanting a thermal label printer for a while now as I resell some art as a hobby and ship things about 2-3 times a week. Even though I don’t ship much this printer makes it so easy. I can simply select a 4×6 size from the site I’m buying the shipping label from, select the Zebra printer, hit “print” and it spits a label out nearly instantly. All I have left to do is peel and stick it on my package. So much easier than printing on standard paper, cutting it out and taping it to the box.
The setup is incredibly simple. You open it up, take out the protective shipping cardboard, close the cover, and plug it in. It’ll print a test page with a QR code to the app download. You can completely set it up, download new firmware and configure it from your phone. Once the printer is connected to your network it works automatically with AirPrint to print from your iPhone or iPad.
The printer comes with 190 labels to start with, which is plenty for most home or small businesses. The app will tell you how many labels are left and has a link to order more. The label cartridge is made from potato starch meaning it’s fully recyclable-even compostable! There are also other label types you can buy including address, barcode, nametag, etc.
The only downside I noticed was there is currently not a ZSB Series app for Mac on their website. It states “coming soon” , so a phone or Windows PC is needed for first time setup. However, once the printer is setup it’s discoverable on your network and I was able to successfully print labels in both macOS and Linux.

If you are in a place where you do not have internet access, I wish you good luck with the installation, it is not possible to use it without registering to the cloud, you cannot even install the drivers. It forces you to use the cloud.Also there is no 4×6 paper option on Mac, it is completely useless. If you send your label to clod software and print it, it is ok but this makes your work longer, I chose this printer to make our life easier but on the contrary it made it more difficult
