I’m using this in an aquarium. It worked flawlessly for a few months, during which my only complaint was it took ~20 seconds for the temperature to update. After a while it started giving me non-sensical readings typical of a broken probe. Tapping the probe or jiggling the wire usually fixed it. Sometimes it gives me seemingly reasonable but wrong values (e.g. 90F rather than 80F). For the most part it works fine as long as you don’t move it.

I’ve got something like this for a thermometer in a frog tank I have. It works well. I bought a new car without an external thermometer (what’s with that? the last 3 car’s I’ve owned have had them, anyway). I mounted this on the dashboard and ran the external probe down the door frame, and into the fender well. It worked great for a few months. Then I noticed that the temperature was not quite accurate because the fender area would impact the actual temp. After 6 months it was shorting out the cable was going. Probably from the door shutting on it (although it was only touching the seals).
So I went into it knowing that I would mistreat it and not use it as intended. It worked ok, and would probably be great in a stationary terrarium or vivarium as intended.
